Here are some TIPS & TRICKS to choosing your wedding DJ:

Planning your wedding can be a difficult task. First you have to search for a venue that you both (she) likes, pick a date, photographer, caterer, flowers, etc. One of the biggest decisions that you both will have to agree upon is a DJ. So, how does one pick the right DJ?

Here are a few tips:

  1. Find a DJ who you click with. Make sure to meet with them and check out their personality. You want a DJ who can manage and interact with the crowd and isn’t afraid to get the party started. Search for the member you want to make a writer

  2. Ask your friends who have gone through the process. No need to try and reinvent the wheel in finding a DJ. A referral from your friends goes a lot further than any google AdWords campaign that tells you how awesome they are at being a DJ.

  3. Also, check out their reviews. If they have a lot of great reviews, then you most likely have found a good DJ. However, you still have to make sure they are the right FIT for you!

  4. Cost/Price: Just because they are the cheapest DJ and have the best prices doesn’t mean they are good at what they do. That also stands true for the pricey DJ – Just because they cost a lot doesn’t mean they are good at what they do. Find a DJ who has decent packages that fit within your budget and make sure to look at their reviews, ask friends and of course meet with them to see their personality.

  5. Once you’ve narrowed it down to a couple of DJ’s to choose from, check out their playlist. If they will customize a playlist specifically for you, perfect! That way you can send them a song list and you should be golden. It’s ultimately up to you, the BRIDE (and groom) to inform the DJ of what songs you DO and DO NOT want to hear at your wedding. However, if you want the DJ to do his thing and read the crowd, that is an option as well.

Ultimately, this is YOUR big day. Booking your DJ is an important part of the planning process, as they will be running the show once zero hour hits. Find one that is organized, professional and fits the personality that you like best.

P.S. Tipping your DJ at the end of the night is NOT necessary, however it is truly appreciated. If you feel that he/she went over and beyond your expectations for your special night, then a tip is well deserved.
